Opt In List Building: Make It Personal If You Want To Get The Sale
Are you guilty of leaving your readers out of the loop?
Too many times when I’m asked for a consultation on how to get better results from email messages I find that the writers were to impersonal.
Their messages come off as cold or standoffish.
Yuk.
Double yuk..
As a reader you never really get the feeling like they’re are talking to you. It’s more like they are talking at you.
How foolish.
Imagine trying to communicate your message to your readers when in reality the only thing you’re doing is making them feel left out.
No wonder people are opting out from your list.
So how do you make your messages more personal.
The quick way is by thinking of yourself as writing your message to a loved one or a good personal friend.
I personally like to use my mom when I’m writing my messages.
But you can decide on whom you’ll be writing to.
Want more?
Start your message with ‘Dear Mom’ and then write as if you were trying to help her personally.
Don’t talk about “other people.” If you cite statistics, personalize them “You know, Mom, as an over-50 American with this malady, you have a one-in-two chance of …”
If you refer to side effects of drugs that treat the condition, empathize with her. Tell her you don’t want that for her. Tell her there’s a better way. Then take her by the hand and lead her through.
See now that wasn’t so hard now was it?
You should see a much better response to your messages once you start creating more personal messages. Your readers will love you for it.
That’s all for now.
