Email Marketing: When is the best day and time to send your message

Posted on February 12, 2007. Filed under: Email Marketing, Internet marketing |

When was the last time you conducted an email marketing campaign that shortly after you sent it out, sales began pouring into your inbox?

Here’s another question for you.

Do you know when is the best time to send out your email message?

If you don’t, do you realize that you could be missing your best chance at getting a sale from your list.

This subject has a lot of controversy surrounding it.

The reason being is that everyone wants a definite answer.

There is one school of thought that says you should send your email out between tuesdays and thursday’s between 10am and 2pm.

And you may very well get a higher response rate.

It’s not totally guaranteed – but possible.

However, if you want to know exactly without any doubt in your mind as to when is the best time to send an email to your target market then there’s really only one way to know for sure.

That way is to simply test your own market.

Let’s say that you have a product that is aimed at teenagers.

It’s the hottest thing to hit the market since sliced bread and teen’s everywhere are just buying like crazy.

You decide to send an email between tuesday and thursday in the hours of 10am – 2pm.

You check your email box saturday morning and nothing. Not one single sell was made.

How come?

The reason may be that your market, teenagers, aren’t available at those times.

You would’ve been better off studying your particular market and finding out exactly when they were most likely to be available to open your email…

Yes, it’s nice to say that you can send your email between this time and that time and the chances are that you may or may not get a response.

But the reality is just this.

Those are only guidelines. Don’t think of them as laws. Do some testing on your own to find out the best time that fits your market.

Thats all for now.
