Opt In Email Marketing: The Nut’s And Bolts Of Building Your First Subscriber list Broken Down To 4 Simple Steps

Posted on February 24, 2007. Filed under: Opt in email marketing |

To start building your first email list,  follow these steps:

1) Decide on a niche. Do not jump around once you choose one. Just build a list to at least 5000 subscribers before you start on the next one. Your experience level will be much higher, and you will do things better the second time around.

2) Create a squeeze page. A squeeze page is a web landing page that has as its only purpose the opting in of subscribers. No links, no adsense – nothing – just an opt in box.

3) Create a compelling free gift offer. One of my favorites is a free ebook so people can sample my writing style and ability to deliver information to them.

4) Send quality traffic to your squeeze page. I could spend half a day describing the many ways to send traffic to your site. But I myself prefer article marketing.

That’s all for now.

Keir,

Nice point about the squeeze page. I have seen my fair share of squeeze pages with so much “hype” you don’t even get to the opt in section. Should be nice and simple, a few quick, and short, points, a git like you mentioned, and I also like to add audio, so that way it gives the subscribers an even more personal feel to what you are like!
