“How Did A Salesletter That I Wrote For A Friend Earn An Additional 25% Profit On Top Of What He Originally Expected”

Posted on May 31, 2007. Filed under: Opt in email marketing |

When I wrote a sales letter for a friend of mine who was selling some of his home made information products.

I had decided to try a tactic that I had picked up from the great Gary Halbert.

It wasn’t the first time I used it, and it wouldn’t be the last.

I normally consider it to be my ace in the hole.

When I need to create a salespackage really quick that will get results then I usually 9 times out of 10 will go with this one.

Anyhow…

I wasn’t surprised at all when he came rushing back over to my home with a huge smile on his face.

I knew that there could only be one reason why he was so happy.

He had sold all of his products.

But not only did he sell them all…

That little rascal lied to me…

The price that he had said he would originally sell them for wasn’t the price he actually sold them for.

He tacked on another 25%

And he got it.

But I was upset.

Why?

Because when I designed the sales pitch and offer it was done so with a specific price in mind…

I didn’t put any room in there for price increases.

I don’t like surprises like that.

Had the product not sold and instead just sat there and took up space…

Then he would’ve had a hissy fit.

“why isn’t anyone buying?”

“I’m doomed.”

But something told me to go with the tactic that has bailed me out of tough situations before.

And it can do the same for you.

Want to know what that tactic is?

Indirection and soft suggestion.

I use this when I can clearly identify a problem that my market wants to desperately solve.

See most people don’t generally like to be reminded of there triple F’s

What are the triple F’s?

Your Faults, Failings and your Fears.

But you can still do it in such a way that what you say about these areas slips in under the radar.

And you can do it with soft suggestion and indirection.

So keep this in mind.

Instead of saying if you don’t take our colon cleanser product you might die tomorrow..

You can simply suggest.

“After having a 30 minute conversation with my doctor..he asked me a simple question. He said..”Keir what would happen if your colon continued to fill itself with toxins that come from the digestive process? If it was to completely fill up…did you know that the biproduct from that process…which is bile..or as you might know it..waste…would reverse flow. and the chances of us being able to stop that decrease by as much as 60%”

You see…I didn’t say that you would have these things directly.

I suggested that someone else could..and you would mentally project yourself in that situation..

Big difference.

That’s all for now.

“The Art Of Salesmanship”

Posted on May 31, 2007. Filed under: Internet marketing |

A couple of years ago I was watching an old episode of Seinfeld when I noticed that one of the characters names seemed oddly familiar to me.

I new that I had heard this name before in a book that I had read…but surely that wasn’t the same character.

So I continued watching.

After the show went off I went over to my personal library of books to see if in fact this was the same character that I had just saw on the show.

I flipped to the chapter where I remember reading about him…and there it was…

The same character that was on the show was the same one mentioned in the book.

The book by the way was method marketing by Dennis Hatch.

Now that I had confirmation – I thought…I’ll do a quick search online for him to see if there was any other info that I could dig up.

I was able to find a catalog.

But it didn’t seem like it had anything to really offer.

The clothing wasn’t really to my personal taste..but I figured what the heck..

I’ll see how he pitches them.

After reading a few ads..

I couldn’t believe the mini goldmine that I had just uncovered.

I’m personally not into digging for treasures..but this truly was the find of the century for me.

why?

Because reading his ads was like getting a one on one lesson in the art of salesmanship.

No school could teach you how to write salescopy this well. The old masters that were writing his ads were like that of a dying breed on copywriter.

And here it was..

Me..just some guy who happened to connect a character from a tv show with one mentioned in a marketing book…

Who knew that in so doing I would change my entire writing style from one of being laid back to that of being packed with emotions.

Fast forward to today.

The lessons I learned from the countless days of combing through all of his ads until they sunk into my memory.

The countless days of modeling his work.

It has paid off. I now have a skill that few people can perform well…and I can take it with me wherever I go.

Want to know the name of the character in the Seinfeld show that caused this change.

Peterman.

J. Peterman.

You can check out his catalog by going here.

That’s all for now.

“The One Idea That Could Change Your Life”

Posted on May 30, 2007. Filed under: Email Marketing |

Yesterday I received an interesting email from a guy who desperately needed my help.

He was trying to build an online business but didn’t really have a clue as to the general steps to take to give him the best chance for success.

He mentioned to me the fact that he had purchased product after product that had promised to show him the way to making money online.

But none of them worked.

And now his wife is pissed.

Having 2 kids both under the age of 10 – a monthly mortgage of over 900 dollars…a car note and insurance..just to name a few…it was easy to see how money was becoming tight.

So he was now at a severe crossroad.

should he risk losing the love of his family to pursue his dream,

Or Should he simply focus on raising his family and put his own personal happiness on the backburner.

My answer to this problem completely shocked him.

I told him not to put his dreams on the backburner.

And that he shouldn’t worry about losing the love of his family because the idea that I had for him would not only work, but he would finally look like the true champion that he was in the eyes of his wife and kids.

Want to know what was the idea that I gave him that would change his life?

Tune in to my next post..blah blah…

Folks…what you have just witnessed with your 2 very own eyes was the power of a story. ..and it’s ability to grab and hold your attention.

Although this was just a quickie..

It still had enough power to put you on a slippery slope.

So what was the point?

It was to show you that there are many things you need to master on your way to becoming a opt in list master.

Everyday you should be working on your skills.

Also..you should be building your own personal library of books that will help you achieve your goals

I routinely order a couple of hundred dollars worth of books every other week from amazon.

what about you?

That’s all for now?

“Tips For Internet Marketing Beginners And Intermediates”

Posted on May 30, 2007. Filed under: Internet marketing |

beginners and intermediates listen up…

If you’re stuck trying to build your online business..and just don’t know where to begin to correct things.

Then I have some really useful information for you.

I recently came across a blog that’s been giving me some tips for generating new streams of traffic.

Now before I write this next sentence..

Let me say this..

I’m no website traffic guru…

But I have a few systems of my own that I use on a regular basis that have been paying off for me.

Take for instance the word system.

It’s my favorite six letter word.

Why?

Because whenever I’m about to take on any venture..I always look for ways to install a system to make things easier.

Now..that’s not to say that you can always automate or create systems for your entire business..

But you’ll usually find that there are repeat actions the occur on a regular basis that you can then “systemize

And I do.

However..there are other times when someone else’s system is more effective…

Or their way of doing things works well with what you’re already doing.

And that’s the case here with this blog.

I don’t know Mike personally…but from what I’ve learned about him and from what other respected people in the online communities have to say about him..he seems like the real deal.

But you can be the judge of that yourself.

So without further ado..

Click here to read what he has to say about building your online business.

That’s all for now.

Breaking News: New Product Just Released From Blog Mastermind

Posted on May 30, 2007. Filed under: Announcements, Free Articles For You To Use |

I have an article for you that you can post on your .

It’s hot of the presses.

And what makes this article so cool is that while it’s sitting there on your blog..it can actually morph into a profit generator for you.

But first…I have a few administration procedures to follow.

As you probably know…this article has a affiliate link attached at the bottom.

And of course when anyone clicks on the link and visits the site and later purchases anything from it…that commission goes to me.

But I’d rather see you get a commission for this article.

Why?

Because you’re the one placing it on your blog.

You’re the one letting your readers know that you have something “new” for them to sink their teeth into.

Not me..

So why not get paid for your time

That’s only fair right?

well…you can receive the recurring comission check for yourself.

But only if you become an affiliate member.

Now don’t go all awol on me here with this.

It’s free..

And so many of you out there are complaining about not making any money online..and how much time you’ve spent on promoting products with nothing to show for it.

Well..it’s time to start finally making some cash by promoting the right products.

By promoting what people want and need and not what you think they need.

It’s a big difference.

By promoting the tools that people need to become successful you can piggyback on their success.

Because when they reach their goals using your tools..they will tell anyone who will listen.

Which means free advertising for you.

It’s a win – win situation.

But only if you act now.

Procrastination kills success.

Anyhow..

Here is your article.

—Beigin Article———

In every bloggers life comes a special day – the day they first launch a new blog. Now unless you went out and purchased someone else’s blog chances are your blog launched with only one very loyal reader – you. Maybe a few days later you received a few hits when you told your sister, father, girlfriend and best friend about your new blog but that’s about as far you went when it comes to finding readers.

Here are the top 10 techniques new bloggers can use to find readers. These are tips specifically for new bloggers, those people who have next-to-no audience at the moment and want to get the ball rolling.

It helps if you work on this list from top to bottom as each technique builds on the previous step to help you create momentum. Eventually once you establish enough momentum you gain what is called “traction”, which is a large enough audience base (about 500 readers a day is good) that you no longer have to work too hard on finding new readers. Instead your current loyal readers do the work for you through word of mouth.

Top 10 Tips

10. Write at least five major “pillar” articles. A pillar article is usually a tutorial style article aimed to teach your audience something. Generally they are longer than 500 words and have lots of very practical tips or advice. This article you are currently reading could be considered a pillar article since it is very practical and a good “how-to” lesson. This style of article has long term appeal, stays current (it isn’t news or time dependent) and offers real value and insight. The more pillars you have on your blog the better.

9. Write one new blog post per day minimum. Not every post has to be a pillar, but you should work on getting those five pillars done at the same time as you keep your blog fresh with a daily news or short article style post. The important thing here is to demonstrate to first time visitors that your blog is updated all the time so they feel that if they come back tomorrow they will likely find something new. This causes them to bookmark your site or subscribe to your blog feed.

You don’t have to produce one post per day all the time but it is important you do when your blog is brand new. Once you get traction you still need to keep the fresh content coming but your loyal audience will be more forgiving if you slow down to a few per week instead. The first few months are critical so the more content you can produce at this time the better.

8. Use a proper domain name. If you are serious about blogging be series about what you call your blog. In order for people to easily spread the word about your blog you need an easily rememberable domain name. People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world (that’s the offline world, you remember that place right?) so you need to make it easy for them to spread the word and pass on your URL. Try and get a .com if you can and focus on small easy to remember domains rather than worry about having the correct keywords (of course if you can get great keywords and easy to remember then you’ve done a good job!).

7. Start commenting on other blogs. Once you have your pillar articles and your daily fresh smaller articles your blog is ready to be exposed to the world. One of the best ways to find the right type of reader for your blog is to comment on other people’s blogs. You should aim to comment on blogs focused on a similar niche topic to yours since the readers there will be more likely to be interested in your blog.

Most blog commenting systems allow you to have your name/title linked to your blog when you leave a comment. This is how people find your blog. If you are a prolific commentor and always have something valuable to say then people will be interested to read more of your work and hence click through to visit your blog.

6. Trackback and link to other blogs in your blog posts. A trackback is sort of like a blog conversation. When you write a new article to your blog and it links or references another blogger’s article you can do a trackback to their entry. What this does is leave a truncated summary of your blog post on their blog entry – it’s sort of like your blog telling someone else’s blog that you wrote an article mentioning them. Trackbacks often appear like comments.

This is a good technique because like leaving comments a trackback leaves a link from another blog back to yours for readers to follow, but it also does something very important – it gets the attention of another blogger. The other blogger will come and read your post eager to see what you wrote about them. They may then become a loyal reader of yours or at least monitor you and if you are lucky some time down the road they may do a post linking to your blog bringing in more new readers.

5. Encourage comments on your own blog. One of the most powerful ways to convince someone to become a loyal reader is to show there are other loyal readers already following your work. If they see people commenting on your blog then they infer that your content must be good since you have readers so they should stick around and see what all the fuss is about. To encourage comments you can simply pose a question in a blog post. Be sure to always respond to comments as well so you can keep the conversation going.

4. Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival. A blog carnival is a post in a blog that summarizes a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic. The idea is to collect some of the best content on a topic in a given week. Often many other blogs link back to a carnival host and as such the people that have articles featured in the carnival enjoy a spike in new readers.

To find the right blog carnival for your blog, do a search at http://blogcarnival.com/.

3. Submit your blog to blogtopsites.com. To be honest this tip is not going to bring in a flood of new readers but it’s so easy to do and only takes five minutes so it’s worth the effort. Go to Blog Top Sites, find the appropriate category for your blog and submit it. You have to copy and paste a couple of lines of code on to your blog so you can rank and then sit back and watch the traffic come in. You will probably only get 1-10 incoming readers per day with this technique but over time it can build up as you climb the rankings. It all helps!

2. Submit your articles to EzineArticles.com. This is another tip that doesn’t bring in hundreds of new visitors immediately (although it can if you keep doing it) but it’s worthwhile because you simply leverage what you already have – your pillar articles. Once a week or so take one of your pillar articles and submit it to Ezine Articles. Your article then becomes available to other people who can republish your article on their website or in their newsletter.

How you benefit is through what is called your “Resource Box”. You create your own resource box which is like a signature file where you include one to two sentences and link back to your website (or blog in this case). Anyone who publishes your article has to include your resource box so you get incoming links. If someone with a large newsletter publishes your article you can get a lot of new readers at once.

1. Write more pillar articles. Everything you do above will help you to find blog readers however all of the techniques I’ve listed only work when you have strong pillars in place. Without them if you do everything above you may bring in readers but they won’t stay or bother to come back. Aim for one solid pillar article per week and by the end of the year you will have a database of over 50 fantastic feature articles that will work hard for you to bring in more and more readers.

What Does “Simplicity” Have To Do With Landing Page Optimization

Posted on May 29, 2007. Filed under: Email Marketing, Opt in email marketing |

Sometimes building your list comes down to simplicity.

How easy can you make it for potential subscribers to join your list rather then to skip over it.

The more efficient you become at doing that the easier it will be for you to build your list.

Lowering the bar so that they can just walk over the line to freedom rather then having to jump.

Here’s an interesting read about how simplicity, recognition and the perception of ease impact landing page optimization.
