I Could Have Easily Quit The List Building Business A Long Freaking Time Ago…But I Didn’t..And Here’s Why

It really makes you feel good when you can help someone who’s been having trouble building their opt in list finally see what it feels like to start seeing new subscribers trickling in on a regular basis.

I love it.

And best of all…

The exact tactic that I used to help him start to see new subscribers sign up on a regular basis and not just every now and then… is the very same one that you will be learning about today.

So rather than beat around the bush…

I’ll just jump right in.

One of my favorite tactics to use when you are just starting out online is the”Someone Is Lying To You Technique”

If you don’t have any testimonials yet, or you lack experience… then this is a good way to get past that problem.

The secret is that you need to find a common enemy that you can both relate too.

Most people are skeptical by nature.

And you can take advantage of that.

When president Bush needed the support of the american people for going to war… he found it in saddam hussein and the weapons of mass destruction.

Now understand this.

You don’t have to agree with what Bush did…

But as a student of marketing..which I know that you are…it serves as good research material.

The weapons of mass destruction angle was a terrific move on his part.

Why?

Because it gave him a enemy to rally the troops around.

And that’s what you can do with your opt in messages.

You find a common enemy that relates to you niche and you share your anger with them.

Create a bond.

Show them that you know what they’re going through…and that you have a solution…or that you have found a way out…

And that’s not all….

The best part is that you can use this tactic to put your messages over the top and reduce your readers natural skepticism.

How can you beat that?

That’s all for now.

interesting post. good idea to relate to your readers.
not sure about the bush idea. i may be old fashioned but i prefer a more straightforward approach.

Hey Keir,

Brad here, been a while since I commented. Ran into a little “bump” in the road when it comes to list building. Unfortunatley, wordpress shut down all my blogs, still been visiting yours though. Great tips as always. I do have a new one up, still in the building process but it is started. As you know, you can’t let little mishaps stop you from your list building. Even though it is not finalized the way I want it check it out at and see what you think. I have start all over, that is the biggest bummer, lost all my posts.

Talk to you soon,
Brad
